The Veluwe is equally beautiful in all seasons. Whether you visit during spring, summer, fall or winter, there is something new to see every time. And that goes for Veessen too, which is situated in the municipality of Heerde in the Veluwe area. You might walk to places you can't reach by bike, but by bike you'll get farther and you can also take in a beautiful stretch along the IJssel River. Do you love cycling and are you looking for cycling routes in the area of 't Lennepserf in the municipality of Heerde? Go ahead and read on and be surprised by the amazing nature found in the Netherlands.

Cycling junction network at the Veluwe

The inhabitants of the municipality of Heerde love cycling and that's why they have created lots of cycling routes. There is an extensive cycling junction network across the Veluwe and along the IJssel which most of the cycling routes use. At the Tourist Information Points (TIP) and through the webshop of Visit Heerde a number of different routes are available. When it is possible regarding the Corona virus, the Rondje Pontje is definitely recommended. During this route, you will make several crossings by various ferries.

Are you a real forest enthusiast? If so, you will find everything you're looking for in the area of Veessen. In the Zwolle forest, for instance, there is a concrete cycling trail and the amazing Dellen forest area is perfect for exploring by bicycle as well. A nice 27 km route is the bike route Rondom Heerde. And would you like to traverse the municipality of Heerde from north to south? Then you can do this very comfortably via the bike path over the trace of the former railroad line.

All of Heerde

On the All Of Heerde route you will pass the most beautiful and special places in the municipality of Heerde, including the high-water channel behind 't Lennepserf in Veessen. The high-water channel protects the area from flooding of the IJssel River and consists of two parallel running dikes about 9 kilometers long, with an inlet and an outlet. In case of extremely high water levels of the IJssel, the inlet can be opened and the high-water channel will become a side branch of the river.

The route is very diverse and leads you both through nature including the Dellen and the Renderklippen, and past special buildings and monuments such as the Mölle of Bats and the church of Vorchten. Highly recommended if you haven't visited the municipality of Heerde before and would like to explore it as efficiently as possible.

Regional products Heerde

The floodplains of the IJssel River in the municipality of Heerde are home to many regional products. Cycle the regional produce route and meet the farmer behind local fair trade products. See for yourself how local produce is grown and harvested before appearing on your plate.

Visit the fields where vegetables are grown and the orchards where the fruits ripen slowly. Stop along the way at Coffee and Tea House The Corn Mill for a snack and drink. The unique decor makes you imagine yourself there in the living room of the former miller!

Would you like to shorten or lengthen the route along the way? At each junction you will find a map on the information panel and you can easily modify your route yourself. Cittaslow

The municipality of Heerde, and therefore Veessen as well, are part of an international network of municipalities that distinguish themselves in terms of livability, hospitality, environment, regional products, landscape, culture history and preservation of their own identity: Cittaslow.

Entrepreneurs and organizations that identify with the principles of Cittaslow can express this themselves and request a 'Cittaslow supportership'. During the Cittaslow cycling route you will pass by the various supporters of this network.

At 't Lennepserf, you can use fiber optic Internet. The login code is listed on the board in your lodge. Having an Internet connection while on holiday is essential for most people. We get that. Yet, we invite our guests to go offline as often as possible!

Bicycle rental service

A nice holiday at 't Lennepserf? Then it's great to explore the area by bike. The wind in your hair and the sun in your face. Wonderful! In our blogs you'll regularly find new cycling routes, but at the TIP (Tourist Information Point) in Veesen they can also help you plan a nice cycling route. It's of course possible to rent a bicycle or e-bike near 't Lennepserf. You can do so at De Rijwielhoek in Oene or at Rijwielzaak van de Put in Heerde.

Beleefplekke

Nature is one of the most beautiful playgrounds for children. What child does not want to climb trees, build a hut in the forest or get dirty in the mud? You really don't need game computers, tablets or televisions to entertain your children. Of course, they can go crazy here at 't Lennepserf, but did you know there is a special nature play area for children in Veessen too? The Beleefplekke is freely accessible 24/7 for children and adults who want to play outside and climb around.

The Beleefplekke

The Beleefplekke is a green playground in Veessen where you are allowed to get dirty, discover the natural elements and where you can learn about sustainability and nature. Among other activities, you can climb, clamber, slide, crawl through 'tunnels', picnic, catch tadpoles, jump in the mud and 'swim'. Events are frequently organized too, such as 'Mud Day' and a 'Mud Run'. Grand Cafe Cornelis, in the former town hall in the center of Epe, is in our top three of bars and restaurants. Cornelis serves high-quality dishes, made out of fair products. The delicious pizzas are recommended!
